Calendar for Wessex
Tony Watts runs a service to advise of acoustic events in the
area. The Calendar is for singers/musicians who want to participate
in folk clubs, singarounds, & open mic nights and has a list of all
the sessions in the area. It is updated 6- monthly so do check with
the venue first to see that the event is still on.

Classes
If it is difficult to get to the Saturday morning classes, or you would like to play more often than once a fortnight, and you are free on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening, you may like to try one of the classes offered by Hibernia teacher Jill Elliot. For further details go to www.fiddlelessons.co.uk - and it is not just for fiddle players. |

This site is run by a Hibernia member. Amongst other things to do with "trad music", this site has a collection of app. 120 + tunes. These include most of the tunes that get played at Hibernia, plus quite a few that get played at the local sessions. It is being added to it all the time. Each tune has a music score (with guitar chords). For those who prefer to learn to play "by ear", for each tune there is a sound file (midi) which is set to cycle around 10 ten times. The sound files are only computer-generated (using a free-reed midi voice), but nonetheless are good enough for someone to pick up the basic melody if they don't read. |
