Sad to report that Bob passed away suddenly last Sunday night -
A great Irishman from Belfast originally, a lover of all aspects of Traditional
Irish music and a great player of the flute and latterly the Harp.
I include a link to Liam O'Maonlai's version of the slow air
An Buachall Bán which you might listen to and take a minute out in memory of
Bob -

Bail ó Dhia oraibh! Good morning to all!
Bob was an absolute gentleman, in every sense. He was a wonderful example of humanity coupled with such dignity. He had a marvellous sense of humour and he had a beautiful pride of his home town Belfast, and shared many hours talking about the old musicians he’d heard, and playing old recordings for me.
He was very involved with The Hibernia Centre from the start, and I’m sure many people will be stunned by his untimely passing.
Bob could handle the old flute really well and I heard he’d taken up the harp
And he was a lovely family man; deep feelings of sorrow and commiserations to his wife and family.
Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas dá anam!
